Article 2 of the Immigration (Health Charge) (Amendment) Order 2023 sets out that the annual health surcharge will be increasing from £470 to £776 for applications made by students, their dependants, those under the Appendix Youth Mobility Scheme, and all other applications for leave to enter or remain made by a person under the age of 18. For all other leave to enter or remain applications made by a person over the age of 18, the annual charge is increasing from £624 to £1,035.
This will come into effect on the later of 16th January 2024 or the twenty-first day after the day on which it was made.
Article 3 of this order provides details on who is exempt from paying the health surcharge, such as applications made under Appendix Domestic Worker who is a Victim of Modern Slavery, Appendix Temporary Permission to Stay for Victims of Human Trafficking or Slavery, Appendix Statelessness, Appendix Ukraine Scheme, or by certain NHS workers and their dependants.
